Your L&S Adviser: Sonya Scott

Sonya Scott is an Oakland native who received her B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California and a M.A. in Career Development from John F. Kennedy University School of Management. She has been working in higher education for 17 years as an Admission Counselor, Student Activities Coordinator, and Adviser at local colleges and universities. Sonya has worked at Cal, in the Office of Undergraduate Advising, since 1999. When not advising, Sonya spends her free time knitting, reading, traveling with her family, and working with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. activities.

Sonya's Advice:

I attained my first jobs after college graduation due to my work-related skills gained outside of the classroom. Through internships and being a student leader, I learned how to put the theories learned as an undergraduate into real-life situations.

Supplement the great education that you will receive at Cal by participating in enrichment activities, whether it is studying abroad, or conducting research, or being an active member of a student organization. Take advantage of all that Cal has to offer!
