Got advice?

Welcome Back!

We are now in the third week of classes and your schedule should be getting settled. Now that your not running around looking for classes you may want to start thinking of visiting an adviser to start planning for the upcoming years. First you should think about what information you would like and then you will know which adviser to visit. Here are a few advisers in different areas:

Letter's and Science Advising: Visit the FYW office in your unit (see schedule for advisers above) or 113 Campbell Hall, if you want to clarify questions about a certain requirements or to get some feedback on a proposed schedule. You can get a lot of your general questions answered here. If you feel confused about majors or not really sure what you want to study, college advisers are a good starting point that can offer possible options. Also, advisers can reassure you that you are on the path towards your degree.

Major Advisers: Each department has an adviser who knows specific information about the major(s) they have to offer. If you have questions about major requirements, declaring process, classes in the department and/or concentrations in majors, you should visit their office. If you check out our majors sight you will find a list of all the majors and adviser contact/location information.

EAP Advisers: Are you thinking of going abroad and expanding your knowledge outside of Berkeley? UC Berkeley EAP offers many great programs for semester or year long in many countries. If you want to integrate EAP in your studies, visit their website to see the hours for advising according to country of interest.

Career Center Advisers: The Career Center is a great resource for planning towards a professional career. If you are thinking of grad school, Law School, Medical School (Pre Med), or many other careers, the Career Center offers advise on how to apply and what courses are recommended. They often have many workshops and fairs that will keep you up to date with applications and internships for your specific interest. Visit their website!

Good Luck!
